turbo bearing going bad ?? help

when my car would be at 1200 rpm i would get a weird noise coming out of the turbo.( sounded like a grind) so i took it off the car over the winter and the little fan moves up in down. just wanted to know how much play is too much ?

Once the wheel moves in and out its too much. If it moves up and down thats normal. As long as its not hitting the compressor cover itself.

hmm so what could be causing that grinding noise. it only happens at that 1200 rpm when im siting neutral

o and the car still hits boost really good pulls strong

check if it scratches the compressor housing.... if its a grinding noise then you must check. also check for broken/bent fins and see if its balanced or not

If you can move it a noticeable amount, it's too much.
