I have searched and searched for a couple specific answers and i cant seem to find it covered anywhere.
When i bought my 1998 2g Gst it came with what i beleive to be the DSMLink cable to connect to a laptop. It was previously tunes from what i understand. I am not 100 percent sure about any of this. i just know it came with the cable to tune it.
What i dont know is how to tell if its DSMLink or what it is so i can go from there to use it. i would like to get into tuning my car myself but i dont completely know what im dealing with.
since i dont know what it is i dont know what software to get and install. i havent been able to contact the guy i bought it from to ask so i have no idea.
Also, can you tune the stock ecu or is it required that i buy a new one and have it socketed ( which i am also unsure what that even does ).
Basically what im looking for is, i am under the impression my car is already ready to go for tuning once i get a laptop. but i dont know what i need further to make that happen...
Any and all newbie tuning advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks guys!
