Okay, I'm sure that by the title of this thread most will think this should be moved immediately, but I'm really not sure if that's what I need help with or not (confusing I know). So here's my dilemma: Been working on this car for a bit over a year now, I feel as if I have got a lot of great parts, a pretty nice setup from what I've researched, but the issued is that I don't quite get how to make everything work in my favor. I just need help determining what device if any will help get more power out of the motor, and if there is anything else I should add before buying turbo (this summer hopefully!!!!!), to get the most out of my car. A few stats below, please help.. Even if it's giving a link to something that I coulda found during search, because to be honest, my biggest problem is not even knowing where to start.

Engine:

I just ordered my new crate motor and wanted to get everyones opinions about it. Let me know eithter way please, which I know you all would do anyways. BTW, Its being built by the guys at overbore.com ... Ive been on the phone with the owner for like 3 hours today just discussing every aspect, talking prices, and just shooting the shit. Seems like a great place, and as soon as I get the engine in and running Ill post how its holding up. I decided this one over the crates at Howell Automotive because of better customer service, and said they'd have it done in 4 weeks tops instead of howells 3 months.

Is there something to help get more all-motor power in the mean time even though I have low compression?

Thank whoever reads and helps in advance, I want to have a pretty nice set up by the s/o 2008

Sounds like that motor should be able to take a shot on it. If your wanting some power to play with untill you go turbo you should check out like a zex kit or something , spray a bit untill the turbo is in. Just make sure you break the motor in first before getting on it.

You're going turbo? Are those NA cams? What are you doing for Throttle body? I'd suggest MP 60mm. Be sure to modify your OBX. Check out this link;
2GNT.com - OBX_Intake_Install

What are you doing for a tuning device? Portfueler? MSnS? I would suggest MSnS for flexibiblity and it will net you some power while NA.

Also, you are aware that your header will be replaced when you go turbo, correct?

The entire motor was built to handle heavy boost by overbore.com. The company that I got the intake manifold from had pre-drilled and tapped out everything so I'm looking at a perfect fit there. I am aware that the header will be replaced, just figured I'd throw that on there in the mean time, my stock had some horrible welds where it looked like previous owner or shop tried to cover up cracks and got lazy.

the tuning device is what Im most interested in... I wasnt sure what device would help most now, and once I go turbo.

Just take a look inside the plenum of the OBX mani to be sure that they took down the poor alignment of the runners. Might be worth a peak. BTW, I have heard good things about overbore, so I think they'll treat you fine.

As for tuning devices, we are pretty limited. If you have a 97, you can get an AFX/ECU from Howell (or possibly used) as a plug and play. Just bolt in and go (but it won't play well with turbo). I did some dyno tests with the unit and it did really well (for a plug and play on a built NA). You can get a portfueler but that won't work with NA. You can get an SAFC but that won't add much for the NA (a few overall ponies with a slight curve change), and won't help you turbo. So that pretty much leaves MSnS to use for both turbo and NA.

still very unsure. I would like to save as much money as possible and willing to do as much work as needed, but would like it to take about a month from design to installation at most. so whatever I can do in a month most inexpensively. Want to use this more towards auotx maybe, I live in southwest ohio, so I drive a lot of hills, curvy roads, I like the feel of an intense drive, while still being safe. Not really looking to change many fuel options unless needed. So maybe something that gives quick response. Any suggestions?

I'd say your set man, the only thing I would do is run megasquirt as an NA application until its time for turbo, but anything other than that is either going to cost you big money ie (building that automatic transmssion, with a high stall tq converter ect.) or just be a waste of time before your turbo install.

Oh and basic maintinance.

Make sure you do your basic reading on 2gnt.com and look up several different fuel options you can anticipate what kind of fuel componets you need installed.
