A couple days ago I saw a TSi in the junkyard stacked ontop of 2 cars, I am planning to go again tommorrow and take some pics and get a quote on how much itll cost to get it. Im pretty much getting it for the power windows, doorlocks, and alarm system, but if getting it running will cost me under 2-2500, I am planning to sell my N/a and go turbo. My question is, what kind of damage should I be looking for because it is stacked up like it is. I know it has a tsudo exhaust, the muffler was fine but i could not see all the way to the engine. It is a 5speed. Just need a few tips at what to look for before I get it. Also about how much should I pay? Ill have pics up within 24 hours.

well first off. its in a junkyard..... there could be ANYTHING wrong with it, and obviously its bad enough that it is in the junkyard. is it 1st or 2nd gen? LOL is it wrecked?? does it run? how many miles? what looks new? what looks like it needs replaced? LOL there are many things i would check for before i bought it (if your going to get it running) LOL just b/c its in a junkyard  . we cant really tell you how much you should pay for it, b/c we havent seen the car and know what all it wrong with it. we need more info before we can help you out. :thumb:

Usually once a car is in the junkyard its there to stay. They total them out and call it junked or something on the title, so there is no real way to re-register the car after it's there.

i think you can get a car out of a junkyard if you are willing to pay LOL i dont think they will turn down your money and after its in the junk yard its totaled and the words total loss goes on the title, then when someone gets it out and fixes it then it becomes a salvaged title :D

More than likely there isn't a motor in the car. If there still is then something is really screwed internally, because if the motor was usable it would be taken out to be sold. They don't just crush awd turbo cars for no reason. If the car is complete ask a bunch of questions about it, but I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred for it. Good luck.

yeah if it doesnt have an engine then i also wouldnt pay more than a couple hundred, b/c you could buy a nice 6 bolt and rebuild it and then drop it in there for around what your budget is. so deffinantly if it doesnt have a motor dont pay very much for it. do you know if its TSI fwd or TSI awd??

i do beleive it was a tsi awd, but im not sure now that you mentioned it, yard is closed (duh its sunday) so pics tommorrow

if i do get it and rebuild it, it will be just for the experience and fun, not really looking into making a profit from it if i wish to sell later on.

There is a blue 1g talon at a local junk yard by me. he wanted 400 bucks for the whole car OMG .

it was a manual, all tires and rims were off it,bov was gone. turbo was there, motor was there
