TRUE short route IC.. anyone seen this type???

I picked up my intercooler from ebay (ssautochrome). The entire kit (bar and plate short route core, polished alumium piping, 1g bov flange, t bolt clamps, quality silicone hoses) only cost about $280 shipped. Gotta love china land. A few people on the board have already installed em and they fit wonderfully.

The thing is huge, about 3.5" and a lot wider than most I/C's.

Just a heads up if you think you can't get a good bang for the buck with a little research online ;)

wow.. crazy deal man. When you get it on, do a log for me please! I'd love to know your temperatures after that..

if it's below 95*, I'm sold OMG :)

Now that I think about it, I'm going to email JR (on ebay) to see if he can fab me up a custom IC. Hopefully he'll do it for a good price :thumb:

SOLUTION!:thumb:
if you have the one-sided intercooler inthere now, just bolt one of these in with ease, cheap too.

mmmmmmmm that looks nice.... yea, its almost as if someone said, "wouldn't it be cool if we made an intercooler that had a psi drop of like 10 psi AT 10 PSI ROFL?"

and top to bottom flowing fmics have higher cfm ratings than side to side fmics. wanna know why? their core is like 20 times shorter in length and much wider. they dont cool as well though, which is why everyone uses side to side. the cfm of your intercooler should be the last of your worries in most cases.

I use a Spearco 2-221 bottom to top flowing FMIC. 18.5"x6"x3". It flows 1080 cfm at 1.5psi drop. I run a Holset HX-35/40(near 1000cfm of flow) a JM SMIM and a Buschur stage 3 P&P head. This FMIC is rated to 760HP. I called turbonetics and got chewed out for questioning the efficiency of this IC. I installed a sensor in my TB elbow and my intake temps stay below 100*(gauge sits in place of the change holder on my console) unless I do run after run without much cool down time between runs. This Nordskog gauge can be had with all hardware for around $60. from Summit with simple installation. Why guess if your IC is doing the job? I run the upper pipe through the radiator core and it is very short. I also have a cold air intake with the K&N sitting where the stock sidemount once was. I cover the turbo inlet and upper IC piping with header wrap to keep the air as cool as possible to help the tiny FMIC that is handling 500+ at the crank. 11.80 in the 1/4 mile. No need to upgrade my FMIC but if I did it would be with the bullseye unit as it has the best design making the air pass through ALL of the IC to get from the inlet to the outlet rather than the usual side to side with the inlet and outlets directly across from each other making the air take the shortest route and see minimal cooling.
Buy your FMIC to meet the specs of the rest of your intake system. What good is it if it flows less than the turbo? By the way Spearco/Turbonetics was knocking their own 216 model as used on DSM's beacuse so much of the IC was not exposed to oncoming air. Mark
