Hey all I just replaced the clutch and TOB in my 97 eclipse gs. Had it on a life and everything and it was no problem prying the cv shaft out of the tranny because of the abundance of room. I just bend my cv shaft and I'm away at college with significantly less room and getting the halfshaft out is giving me some trouble. Is there a trick or do you just pry on the bi*** until it gives ?

One of the best ways that I found was to use a chain that is bound together at the transmission side of the cv with another chain hooked to it for the pulling and just yank the cv out without worrying about messing up the bearings or separating the boots from the axle. The other way that I do it is to just jack the car up enough to get under it and use a short pry bar and just pry on it until it comes out.
Good luck.

I've always used a good sized pry bar (biggest you can get to fit) on any of the cars I've done. Some seem to pop out better with a quick snap of the pry bar while other seem to work better with constant pressure. Try both methods, one should work for you.

I've always used a nice sized flathead/prybar.........a quick snap always works for me, some seem to take a lil more *umph* than others.

Good Luck!!!

I found using a big pry bar works good. Just pry from the trans side of the axle and have someone pull on the outside part of the axle, try to keep the axle as level as possible and just yank.

Screwdrivers always work well, whatever you do just don't pull on it or you might have a greasy mess and a torn boot.
