My syncro in 1st is completely out. It won't hardly shift into 1st except sometimes between 25-20mph. I was wondering if anybody rebuilt their own 5 speed trany? If so, how hard was it and where do you get the parts. If I rebuild it, I want to put double syncros in 1st. Can you put double syncros in a gear without custom fabrication? :talon:

Thanks
Paul

Man. I'v never done it before. but I'm looking at probably doing the same thing myself.

almost all my gears bind up a little unless I shift at just the right rpm. and it's kinda pissing me off.

My car just started doing the same thing in 1st. It used to go in alright as long as I was rolling, but now it just doesn't go in at all. If you take yours apart post what you find.

I've rebuilt trannies before, however all I've done to a 4G63T tranny is change shift forks. However I know people who DO build trannies. If you know what you are doing is can still be a pain getting all those critical clearances right. A simple answer is unless you are a very experienced mechanic I wouldn't attempt it. Just think how fun it is pulling your tranny out of your car. If you keep getting things wrong you'll get to do it ALOT.
