hello,

My question is:

When finding out the end play between the tranny case and bearing races (with solder), is RTV or gasket maker to be used? Usually, what thickness does the material have when torqued to 28ft/lbs?

The reason being is, I'm gonna get my readings with no gasket, then I will apply RTV when I have the proper spacers...
THanks
Cesar.

The rtv will have very little affect on the shimming and a real thin beed is all that is needed .Just make sure you are turning the shafts when you are tighting the bolt when you are getting the readings from the solder to make sure the cone bearings are seated in good during the process .I got some rtv from the Crysler dealer that work real good , it was made for trany fluids .
