Do you have some tips for a quick transmission inspection (1G AWD).
"Suppose" to came from a good running engine/car.

For the ones following my build thread, its the tranny from the rotten 1ga i bought a year ago. Never saw it run.
I still have some work to do before touching the tranny, but im thinking at what i will do with it.

thx!

If you're asking for external inspection no. That will tell you very little. Only real thing I can think of is how does fluid look and does the input shaft have any play. If the input has play plan it needs to be addressed.

While we're on the topic, yesterday I finally pulled my trans and checked the input and output shafts and shift/select levers.

The input was rock solid, no in-out or side-to-side play, just smooth rotation with matching rotation from the output shaft and side gears.

The output, though, while it didn't move side-to-side, it did move around 1/16-1/8" in-out. Is that bad?

The shift/select levers had clean and precise action and did what they were supposed to do.
