I have a 95 GSX and it seems like the transmission is grinding or something is causing a very loud rattling/grinding noise in that area when I am decelerating in 3rd or 4th gear and especially when I am going downhill with my foot off the gas. If I press on the gas, the noise goes away but comes back as soon as I take my foot off.

I'm thinking about trying some Syncromesh instead of the MT-90 that I have in there right now, but I know that would only be a temporary fix at best, and may not even be addressing the situation. If anyone could give me some ideas of things to try or where to begin looking I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

ISd say try to check your throwout bearing. Mine has a similar problem. Has this grinding sound through 3rd and 4th, as well as sometimes when the car is out of gear. Seams the only way to eliminate the noise in neutral, is to hold the clutch in, and while driving, if I slam it into 4th, it'll usually go away. I'm already searching for a new tranny, since I don't know a whole lot about trouble shooting tranny problems. Just a suggestion though.

Yeah I'm not good at troubleshooting that stuff either. I just want to have an idea of what could be going on and maybe some things to watch out for.
