hey ive been thinking of puting in a shift kit in my 1g. i was just looking for some tips and anyone who has done it before to help me with some newbie questions

The shift kit improves shifting and offers firmer shifting. It prolongs the life of the transmission (more fluid flow and pressure). The stock setup causes softer, slower shifting because it slips the clutches more (less fluid flow and pressure). That actually causes more wear of the clutches. It will be easier for you to buy a valve body with a pre-installed shift kit. It costs more but the work is already done and you won't damage your current valve body.
. (timing belt, water pump,battery, spark plugs/wires, oil,fuel filter etc) It's a 91 laser rs turbo fwd. Picked it up for $450 with only 103k orig miles needs some tlc and paint. but to the point of this post i actually just finished all the engine work on my first dsm. The tranny is a mess it bangs down hard into second and doesnt shift into overdrive and I'm wanting to build the engine to 300-350hp but am not sure about who makes good rebuild kits and shift kits.. any ideas?
