Problem is, I'm trying to get the thing apart, all the bolts are undone and off, but it only moves about 2-3" before it feels like it is stuck. Then, it won't move out any farther. I can slide it back in, but not out any farther than 2-3" The part that goes through the clutch is stuck on something. I had heard that the trans has to be completely level to let it slip out at all. Right now, the whole motor and trans is on an engine mount. The transfercase is off, and so is the hydraulic cylinder, so the clutch isn't holding pressure on the shaft anymore. Any idea what inside the trans would be catching on it and hold it in?

Sounds like your just not pulling hard enough. Take a pry bar and try pry'ing it out, be careful, don't just let it fall to the ground though...

Is everything clearing the fram in the wheel well?(tranyy mounts, casing) I just got it to slide right out every time, but sometimes the tranny mount would not clear so I started taking it all the way off.

The whole trans is out of the car. I pulled the motor + trans at the same time to replace the clutch while I do a 6 bolt swap. I'll try the prybar idea tomorrow. I can move it side to side, and straight out, but gets stuck about 2-3" out. Just pull harder?

Possible spline hanging up? I've not encountered that one. Usually the damn locator pins on the engine hang up in the bell housing for me.

Alright, I've pulled the shit out of this, and it is NOT budging at all. Mitsu Tech, you said it could be the locator pins on the engine hanging up in the housing? If it is a spline hanging up, what could I do about it?

Sorry to double post, but I CANNOT get this undone. I've tried EVERYTHING to pull this damn thing apart, and it will not budge anymore past that point. Hell, I even tried hanging the whole thing upside down (engine and trans mind you) and pulling down on the trans... nothing.

What could still be holding this together?

If you could take a picture of how far it goes out, that would be very helpful in determining what it is...
