Alright guys I got an odd one. The other day I took it up to redline in 2nd, and tried to shift hard into 3rd as would be assumed. I partially missed the shift and took it out of gear, let the clutch out in neutral, and then shifted int 3rd.
Now sometimes in normal driving I have trouble downshifting from any gear to 2nd. I'm very very doubtful its a synchro issue because it does it both when the car is running and off. My room mate checked the linkage under the hood and its fine. It feels like something is blocking the movement but if you push a little firmer it sort of pops and I can downshift like before. I was told its a gated transmission and the gate is sticking. (I don't know what that means.)

Does anybody have any insight or things I could check myself?

Is this something I need to address then or can I just drive it as is? It doesn't seem to affect anything or cause any gears to grind when I'm driving.

This thread is resolved. The problem is not a bent shift fork thank god. The problem is the shifter bushings are GONE. Its just so sloppy that the arm in there sits too low, and sometimes on the 2nd to 3rd shift it gets stuck.

Okay so I am reopening my own thread. I had kind of ghetto fabbed a shim at the bottom of the lever so that it wouldn't catch on anything. That way I could atleast shift. Well now I think one of EVERYTHING is worn out. If anyone here cares to take a look at my video and see what they think, I would really appreciate it. The bottom line I think is that the shifter is trashed.. but is there anything I can do to fix the stupid thing?

Does that picture work for anyone else? For some reason it says Error 403. Access forbidden. I am having all kinds of problems with links, and videos and pictures today! Haha.

Thank you ETS. After changing my Mozilla settings over and over I finally got your picture to work. That's exactly what I was looking for. I wonder if I can find some standard solid washers at the hardware store to get the forward throw slop out of it. Also on the video, do you think that my return spring is completely dead? Or is there something that can be done to adjust it?

Okay so I ordered a new return spring. I'm having trouble with these charts though. I have two different charts saved, and some of them have different part numbers. They aren't specifically labeled and so I don't know which one is of a 90' and which is of 91+.

I don't want to order 6 of those 7 dollar a piece bushings when it calls for the ones that are $1.88 from JNZ.
Anybody know how to tell the difference between the years? <---Nevermind- I called JNZ and they set me straight. The ones that are $1.88 are specifically for the second gen cars. Mine being a bastard child 90', has 6 of the bushings that are $7.00 a piece. :ohdamn:

Oh man, it was definitely worth the wait guys. While taking my shifter apart I began to worry that these weren't the correct bushings. After getting it fully apart and inserting the bushings, they fit like a glove. It made all the difference in the world. I honestly can say that it's like I'm not even driving the same car.
It appears to me that Mitsu has beefed up the bushing thickness just a bit, and the bushings are no longer the same color as they used to be. They're blue now instead of white.
Now if I could just get rid of that 'notchy' feeling 1Gs are known for...

Thanks to ETS and JNZtuning. :thumb:
