Hey guys just notice my trans was leaking, have a hard time shifting as you would imagine. Here's the breakdown......shep stage one, oem style clutch, new slave cylinder. Its at the.shop now I'm just wondering what some of your though might be on the cause? Wanna see how much its gonna cost me. Do you guys think it just the almost 20 yo trans lines that finally rusted away, or am in for a.big costly disappointment? Thanks for input guys 92 6 bolt talon

It's very difficult to diagnose a tranny leak when you haven't told us where it's leaking or given us any pictures to help.:toobad: You should have found out where it was leaking before you took it out. Sounds like your at the mercy of the "shop" now. It is what it is.:|

Trans lines? I didn't know there were any trans lines on a manual transmission. Or maybe you just meant clutch lines.

yeah meant clutch lines sorry....rough morning.... tranny is still in car, i was just trying to narrow down the suspects with pehaps forum members past exp. does the entire axle have to be replaced or just the seals? sorry for no pics buts it cold out LOL and i wasnt in the mood to even take them i wanted to blow the car up this morning. it was leaking pretty much from the middle of the car slightly behind tranny but thats not much help i know and it was quite a bit of fluid...thanks for the thoughs guys

What??? Which is it? Transmission fluid leak or clutch fluid leak? If its clutch lines, you can braided set for about 120 for both. If its axle seals, no, the axle does not need to be replaced, just the seal and they are about 6$ per seal plus about a hour labor per side. If its "behind the tranny" it probably is a axle seal. But your being very general so I really couldnt tell you for sure without pics or a better description.

sorry to be so broad guys i didnt actually go under the car and look its was on a busy street waiting for a tow truck and it was freezing. like i said the trans is recently has had the shep stage 1 treatment. i guess i was just tring to narrow down the possabilities. im no dsm expert so i do apologize for my newbish post. sounds like it either gonna be the lines or some seal....so it shouldnt be to expensive i hope.

either axle seal or driveshaft seal{if its AWD}. do it yourself instead of gettin a shop to. All you have to do is pop the axle out. pop the old seal out with a screwdriver. Pop the new seal with a little fluid around it by hand. then pop the axle back in. took me all of an hour to do both sides

well it is the seal(s) that are leaking however the shop informed me that there is movement in the trans when the pedal is pushed in. all the bolts are tight that hold the trans to the motor he said, so he seems to think that one of the mounting bracket either on the trans or block is broken. anyone ever heard of this? i dont abuse the car at all LOL for fear of something breaking with 122k on it. he thinks it could be welded once they get a better look at where the break is.....thoughts?
thanks for the insight guys 20yo car for the fail
