I was wondering if there was a stock fwd tranny with better gear ratios than my 7 bolt fwd from a '97 gst? Just did a jdm turbo motor swap needingtighter gears.

If you're in the hunt for tighter spaced gearing here's how it can be accomplished.

1. buy an awd tranny.
2. weld the center diff in it.
3. plug up the output shaft hole for the transfer case.

a friend of mine has this on his 91 laser and it works pretty good. I'm not sure what sort of differences you'd see at the track since you may have to make one more shift before the traps.

Use the AWD transmission. The gearing is better for acceleration, esecially if you are using taller drag slicks. People drop more than .2th's because of better gearing.
