Tranny grinds going into 2nd

Try changing the fluid. This may or may not help. These trans are known to grind so if the fluid doesnt help, it might be time for a rebuild.

hey, i have a white 1990 eclipse AWD Turbo 175,XXX miles, and it grinds going from 1-2 and 3-2, do i just need a new syncro, fluid change? any help would be great, thanks.

Ha, I shouldn't even respond to this since everyone I have ever met from Newberg is retarded :p

Have you just bought the car or what? If it wasn't doing it before and it is now, did you miss a gear while driving "spirited'?

I'm going to assume that you just got the car and it's grinding so the best place to start would be a transmission fluid change. When it's draining out, make sure to take note of any metal "flakes' that are in the drain pan or anything not fluid. That is a tell tale sign of a problem either starting or been there for awhile.

Make sure you use either oem fluid from mitsubishi or high quality synthetic like Redline mt-90.

If your doing the labor it will cost you whatever transmission fluid you buy. Heres a good write-up Transaxle Fluid Change

my old 92 talon grinded second and 3rd, but after a while the grinds just sorta went away. shifts fine now. dont know what was up with that. a fluid change cant hurt though, especially if its never been done on that car before.

oh ya funny, there are a lot of retards here, i just got the car and i'll just change the fluid and see what hapens, thanks.

yeah whenever u do fluid changes check for oil flakes but if it continues after try for either a rebuild or often just a used replacement with a warranty is a cheaper way to go.

Chances are its your tranny.Iv heard of a fluid change slightly helping the syncro grind but never eliminating. As far as finding a used replacment that is not in the same shape as yours...good luck.Even with a warranty you looking at removing the tranny again if its bad. Most junkyard dont know what drivetrain componants are good or bad. They assume they are all good unless its obvious they are not.Save time and money...check sheptrans or tre.

Teamrip and shep tranny's are the best. They have made alot of happy customers. Build it the way you like it. Their not cheap but they take beatings.
