I just put a passenger side front axle in my car and when I took the old one out I lost some tranny fuild. My question is so I just go ahead and drain what's left or just fill it back up and if so what kind should I use?

I did this over the weekend.

I used Mobil Synthetic Transmission Fluid. There are alot of choices, and I think you can only get Dextron Mercon IV right now at a minimum which satisfies the Eclipse's requirement. I think Mobil 1 is equivalent to VI.

I have alot of B&M Trick Shift regular but I decided not to use it. At $6.50/qt, I trust Mobil Synthetic and it would make me feel that I did not skimp on my car.

I know this is gonna make me sound dumb but I've never really looked at tranny fluid before, are there different weights?

Yes there are different weights or types. The biggest thing to look at is whether or not the fluid is GL 4 compatible. I know that Pennzoil Syncromesh is and have heard some really good things about it. NOT ALL TRANNY FLUIDS ARE EQUAL. I personally like to use a 50/50 blend of Redline MTL and Redline MT-90. The MT-90 is a bit thicker which is good for tranny longevity, and the MTL is thinner which is good for giving you a great shift.

People do go with 100% of one or the other, it's just my personal preferance to blend the 2.
