well today after work i performed the TPS test from Vfaq, moving the throttle open and closed to see the resistance values...and right at about 4k ohms, theres an open in the potetiometer, so that could very well be a big problem for me correct?

I wanna make sure, since the TPS is about a $150 peice, so i dont wanna go buying one as a shot in the dark

:dsm: I haven't looked @ the site to see their specific instructions, but I can tell you this if the resistance becomes infinty then you don't have any voltage going to tps sensor return @ ECM in this case an open circuit gives that particular reading, so the ECM sees a closed throttle :notgood: and adjusts timing advance and A/F to this reading. Double check make sure the leads from your ohmmeter are making good contact and have someone else move the tps very slowly while you hold the leads and watch the meter or switch it up. If you have that fluctuation in resistance you got a PROB. You should have 3.5k- 6.5k with throttle closed and it should increase smoothly without any irregularities. Of couse make sure you check pin#1 for a 5volt ref. and #4 for a good ground checking resistance of ground any questions let me know

according to vfaq i should have .9ohms to 5 ohms closed to open, i dont know if its different for a 2g, but those were the reading i got 1.01 closed and 5.002 open, and every time right around 4 it would show an "OL" which is a open in the circuit. And yeah i had another guy helping me, we checked it about 5-6 times, and the "OL" accorued every time.

Thanks for you help, like i said before, i just dont wanna spend $150 if that isnt part of the problem...

Today however, my radiator decided it just didnt wanna hold onto the endtanks anymore...while i was driving down the street :thumb: i swear my car is cursed and hates me
