Quick question..what's the normal position for the TPS (Throttle position sensor)?? Is it pushed all the way clockwise, or all the way counter-clockwise? Or somewhere inbetween?

Thanks in advance!

somewhere in between...

Closed TP Switch and TP Sensor Adjustment [2G]

1. Disconnect the connector of the TPS.
2. Connect ohm meter between terminals 3 and 4.
3. Insert a feeler gauge with thickness 0.45mm (.0177 in.) between the throttle stop and the throttle lever.
[Fold a piece of paper in half 4 times if you don't have the feeler -Ed.]
4. Loosen the TPS mounting bolts. Turn the TPS all the way counter
clockwise.
5. Check for continuity in this condition.
6. Slowly turn the TPS clockwise until the point where continuity and
non-continuity is found (pins 3 and 4).
7. Tighten the TPS mounting bolts.
8. Check the voltage between pins 2 and 4 of the TPS with the ignition
switch on, but the engine not started.
9. Standard value: 400 - 1000 mV
10. Remove the feeler gauge.

The throttle stop is the screw on a 2g that the throttle lever rests on. If you're having trouble locating it, have someone work the pedal (with tha car off) and you'll see what's turning on the throttle body; that's the throttle lever. The throttle stop is what it's stopping on when the gas pedal is all the way up.

Good shit good shit. Appreciate it!

No problem, man. Actually I just did the throttle body swap tonight, hence why I'm writing at 4 am. I used my AFC to calibrate the TPS. It was easy as pie. When I did it by road race's guide, and checked on the AFC, it had 0% when the throttle plate was closed, but only about 85% when it was wide open. It needed bumped clockwise just a hair, then it was perfect. If you wanted to do the same thing you could tap the wire going into the ECU that reads the TPS voltage. I think it reads 0v. minimum and 5v. maximum but I'd need help on this one. It's a gray wire going into one of the plugs on the ECU. Good luck!

Hm okay I tried it...I didn't get any readings at all from pins 3 & 4. It said OL the whole time....and it's a brand new TPS.

Also, how can I put the paper between the throttle stop & throttle lever? When the pedal's all the way up, the throttle lever isn't even resting on the throttle stop.

The throttle lever SHOULD be resting on the throttle stop bolt when the pedal isn't being pushed because of the spring on the throttle lever. Make sure that the throttle plate is closed (almost) when the pedal isn't depressed. There will be a very very small gap (I don't have the clearances). Hopefully your throttle stop is just backed out too far, as opposed to your throttle lever needing adjustment.

oh yeah... the pins are upside down. pin 4 is the top pin. pin 3 is next down...

and, if you just swapped TBs, adjust the throttle cable first. So that the butterfly is closed with the pedal up, and as little slack in the cable as possible.

i just did the swap last weekend, so I know the procedure I stated above works.
