The only way it can affect the torque measurement is if you lengthened the wrench any more then it should be.
You lose torque through the extension due to the extension twisting. So the torque the wrench is set too when it clicks isn't the torque that is applied to the fastener when using an extension. IIRC it is about 10% loss per inch of extension.
Anyway, I have a 1/2 inch torque wrench (20-150 ft lbs) and a 3/8 inch torque wrench (15-200 in lbs) that are both craftsman. I love the smaller in lbs wrench but its nice to have both to cover the range you need for working on your car.
