I've looked pretty much EVERYWHERE and can not find a difinitive answer for a torque spec for the 4 bolts that hold the stock t25 to the exhaust housing.

Best I could do was match up the TYPE of bolt to a general torque spec sheet in a haynes manual. It suggested 9 ft*lbs.

Any ideas??

....and the 97-99 manual says 20-23 ft/lbs so go figure:D

Cool, thanks :thumb: What volume/page did you find that on??

Actually . . . I found this site that suggests 15 Ft*lbs

http://www.tstproducts.com/turbine_install.html

Torque specifications in lb.-ft. are as follows:

Exhaust outlet band clamp: 6
Turbine housing bolts: 15
Oil drain tube to turbo bolts: 18
Oil supply line: 11
Turbo to exhaust manifold nuts: 24

Well, go ahead and do that if you want, but make sure to check on them after running the car. Almost guaranteed some/all of 'em will be loose.

so out of all of the turbo swaps that have undoubtedly been done on this site, no one has a real torque spec other than "as hard as you can"

I posted the torque specs at the beginning of thread. Bolts are supposed to be torqued to a spec for a reason. "As hard as you can" is just plain stupid and bad information. Once the manifold heats up one time, you will have to go back and retorque them. I have never had a problem with these 4 bolts coming loose, following the factory specs.

Hmmmm- perhaps I'm getting my terminology mixed up. . .

I'm looking for the specs for the four bolts on the turbine housing (they hold the turbo together via two metal bands)

Would that be turbine housing to exhaust housing? Or is Exhaust Housing = O2 Housing?

Egad, find us a picture of what you want.

I think most are giving you a housing-to-manifold value.

I guess that probably would help huh? It's the four bolts in red. Holds the compressor housing to the exhaust housing
