2G Torque converter interchanges?

I have a 98 Eclipse GST motor and a 96 Eclipse GSX trans in my 95 Talon TSi AWD and I think my torque converter is bad. Is there anyway to check it out of the car and also what color torque converter is better because there is a gray one and a blue one?

I know my original motor before it blew had a blue one attached to the flex plate but when I switched motors I left the gray one on there and installed it with my AWD trans everything was fine.

After 2 months the end gears went and after 6 months the tranny blew or something it would be stuck in neutral in every gear so I got a new AWD trans but don't know what color torque converter to get? I do not know if there is a difference or not?

Don't go from color, thats how you buy the wrong part haha. Look up your specs, and for seeing if it's bad, go to a tranny specialist. It could be a bad solenoid from what you are describing...

 

[AWD_Hybrid]

If the convertor works cold, but slips after heating up, it could have a spun stator/sprag conection. It takes a lot of stalling for more than 8 secs to heat the fluid up to cause them to spin loose. Reving it up in neutral & then pulling it into gear, is a no no. Kills stator/sprags.

If the grey convertor would stall up while holding the brake, use it.
If the blue one would stall up too, you can flick a coin on color.

Also neutralising could be the pump, seals, solenoid etc
Get the box you use checked out before you fit it.
