Toronto,
I need to replace my shocks, and was looking at a few and i was thinking about getting lowering springs all together and do them both at once as i want to lower my in the long run.
I'm looking at the tokico blues & tokico illuminas. I've read many people here say they use illuminas because they are adjustable which is good when you go to the tracks, street use, auto cross..etc. But I mainly use my car to go out/school/work that's it. I have a 99 eclipse gs, so 2g & FWD.
Basically tokico blues are about 230 on ebay while illuminas are about 380. Now i would like to know what you guys suggest, should i go for the blues as i dont really need to adjust the shocks as it's only meant for street use? Or should i go ahead and grab the illuminas? I had many problems in the past with my car and i wanna do everything the right way from now on so i don't end up having problems every 2 weeks so if illuminas are worth it more than the blues in terms of quality and reliability, i'll go grab the illuminas. I'm sure they're way better but as i won't be adjusting with the illuminas, what should i go for? And no coilovers or koni yellows, they are too expensive. I can pay tops about 400 for the shocks just because i don't want any trouble with suspension.
As for springs, i'm considering getting eibach's prokit which will drop 1.2" in F/R or S. Tein which will drop about 1.3" F/R. Don't want to drop too low as there's speed bumps all over school/work but want to drop to see a significant difference from now.
This is my car and the current height...looks high..If any of you guys have before & after pics of your drop with what springs used, please post em as it will let me see the difference and perhaps let me see if i need a bigger drop. Hoping i will see the difference from this pic to an 1.2-1.3" drop. Those are 17" tires.
Also since i will be dropping my car more than 1", you guys are saying i need camber kits. I was checking on ebay and i say ingall kit (which most of you have) for 120$ which i see others kits for 30$. Any difference or can i buy the cheaper ones? don't see the difference, maybe on how much - + you can adjust?
I'm currently looking at about 500-600 for springs/shocks or even more since i live in canada and will be ordering from ebay, with the current exchange rate and customs, maybe up to 700. Any canadians in the house, especially in t.dot, let me know if if you know any places i should try looking for parts
