So when driving lately, every once in a while I hear something bouncing around in my engine bay. Today I popped the hood and looked around for a while to find that my drivers side shock is really loose, The nut was almost all the way to the end of the threads.

When I was tightening it back down, the whole shaft started spinning. I kept turning and looking for something else that could be loose (causing the shaft to spin) but found nothing. Eventually it stopped spinning and I tightened the nut down. However, it's sticking up quite a bit taller than the other one. The passenger side threads stick up 1/2" past the top of the nut and the driver's side sticks up 3/4"

Does anything here sound like it could be a problem? I don't want to be driving down the road and have my strut break in 2 or something.

when you tightened it did you hold the shaft in the center with some vice grips?? or did u just keep turning the nut?

you have to use vice grips to hold the shaft, or the bolt/shaft will spin. i dont think there is a way to do it without something holding the shaft. not saying your a liar :p, but it wont work without hold that shaft, and using an open end 17mm wrench :thumb:
