so i have a chance to buy another dsm. already have my 92 tsi awd, and that is getting a head rebuild and bottom end refresh. the basics.
i found a 92 tsi FWD turbo 5 speed. body is ok, not perfect by any means. interior is all there but plastic has seen better days. heres the kickers.
car starts and runs, misses at idle and stumbles 2-3k rpms. stock boost gauge goes to max, doesnt like to rev at all. also has compressor surge when motor is revved while stopped.
has ebay crap put on it (want to smack the owner), 16g, huge crappy front mount, piping kit, and super lame chebay BOV.
ive got a list of things to check and do before i buy, including: check MAF, check vac lines to FPR and WG, check plugs and wires, compression test and change it all back to stock intercooler, piping and wg, see what happens.
i would be able to buy the car for 400 bux at that point. i figure if nothing else, i could use it for parts and sell the carcass or junk it afterwords. id like to have it as a stock daily tho (save the chebay 16g).
if anyone has anything else to add, chime in, tell me if you think its an ok deal and if im on the right track. i searched and asked around and this was the best and most reasonable info i got back. should probably also check TPS, and need to inspect the ecu to see if its got bad caps and/or if its been dicked with at all.
here some pics. itll come with a stock front bumper cover not the hacked up one, and the wheels hes keeping (thank god, ive got my falken 5+ 17's to throw on it). let me know what you think!
