Edmonton,
hey everyone, well im finally ready to tune, and i need a little help. To start off im tuning with a translator version 1.3. abd a tmo datalogger with my laptop. anyways, i read as many threads and walkthroughs as i could and im juts kinda confused on a couple of things. is there a place where i can find a REALLY good guide for a 1g with my mods (check profile please). and if not heres the problem, so i wired my maft in my car... GREAT IDEA!!! :D and had my laptop hooked up but it seems that my fuel trims are staying in one straight line. is this right? and im kinda confused cause even after fooling around with it for a bit they stay the same but we got my knock down from 43 to about 20. so im happy about that, but my car still kinda idles shitty. if i set it to 450's then it idles good but runs slower. sorry to throw so much at once, but better than a hundred different threads. thanks in advance for all the help i can get. and im sure ill think of more questions to come. and if anyone si really interested in helping i can send my logs to them. thanks.

Tune for 0 Knock...what else can I say

Exactly.

Set your MAFT to your injector size. Go and set your mid and highs on the highway. Watch your trims, shoot for 100 on them.

Keep crankin up the boost until you start to knock. Then go back down to the last good setting.

BTW, if you are running a GM MAF, you probably will be running less boost and hit fuel cut due to the increase in air flow, so don't be scared when it happens.

Get bigger injectors.

well i have 550's and i think they should be big enough, k but when i set my injector size to 550, it doesnt run too gun, the lower i put the setting, the beter it runs.

you are just leaving your settings at zero across and the base set to 550cc's???

It doesn't run good when? At idle, or what?

The base is settings in the instructions is just a ballpark to get you close. Most people usually have to go about 3 clicks +/- a click on the idle knock to rich. Usually the mid and high is pretty good, but you will need to go out and take it for a drive to find out.

Here is a link. Scroll down to the DSM Support section and there is a ton of great information on the tuning procedures and other peoples problems you can learn from.

Hope this helps

i allready took out it and logged it, just tuned ut for a little while, lowered my knock from 43 to about 20. i know i have alot to go. it idles rough, but if i lower the setting to make it think its closer to 450 then it runs better. but should it be this way?

keep working on getting that knock down to zero.

From what i've read, most people with 650 range injectors have to put there base set up usually tuned to the 550 setting. Don't ask me why, but it is what it is, so i wouldn't think it would be too far fetched that you have 550's and have it on the stock setting.

Join the forums at the link i gave you and post that question on there.
