Just put in the motor I finally finished building. When I went to crank the motor here's what happened:

First was a hard start, felt like something was "catching" the motor when it was trying to turn over. When it finally turned over, there was a strong burning smell and the front tires were spinning (front end jacked up to bleed powersteering system). The car will go into gear, but the tires continue spinning even with the clutch pressed down, and they spin in neutral. I bled the clutch lines. clutch fork is dead center of the opening for which it sits through. I turned the car off immediately when I realized the wheels were spinning and smelled the burning.

Fwd, 6 bolt, new clutch, new flywheel, new throwout bearing.

Any ideas? I am at a loss.

thanks in advance for all the help

Would this require adjustment in the pedal (the pushrod to the master cylinder)?

Alright, I'll get on that in the morning. Anything else that might be the cause of this problem?

I was going to pull the transmission to check the the clutch disc, but I read that installing it backwards would be quite the task and would probably end up breaking the disc. I did not get much resistance in bolting the clutch cover on. I did not place the clutch disc, i was working on something else when it was actually positioned. I wanted to get opinions on outer problems that may ensue before I pulled the transmission... again.

Thanks for all the help so far, if any other opinions, please share.

The adjustment in my clutch pedal was all I needed to get her on the road. Appreciate all the help!

However, I noticed my radiator fans would not turn on, could this be due the cold weather? The thermostat opens fine, and my temp gauge is dead center if not a little cooler. There was a sensor that was hooked into my passenger side a/c line does this have anything to do with the fan operation? I removed all my a/c lines and components so that sensor just hangs there now.

Update: Fans work fine, they just come on later than they used to due to the new radiator and cold weather. All is well and she's finally back on the road... After a good tune, of course.

Thanks for all the help.
