My 91 talon auto awd race car project is ready to go to the track and make some runs.
I have so far done a lot of weight reduction. Not sure weight haven't weighed it yet.
I plan on going to track with stock 13g just for fun. Only mods on the car right now are k and n filter, 3inch downpipe with no cat or catback.Dsmlink for tuning but might run on stock ecu this time out.
Supra tt pump and adjustable reg stock injectors.

Not sure what tires to get for the car. This is pure race car and can't be street driven .
But not sure want to run slicks? Should I run something like et streets or et street radials on it?
I don't want to break center diff until get it out and weld it.Also will be upgrading axles and switching to 4 bolt rear but not likely till next year.

next year am bolting on my fp3065 from my 97 talon and hoping to be able to get some 10s out of the car. I don't want to go 9s since its way too much extra stuff.

So what are good tires to get and how much will the unwelded center diff take?
How worried should I be about the stock axles in a 4 bolt..in my 3 bolt?

If bought some cheaper street tires for now what are about the best..falken azenis think heard are good but not sure can get here? have to check..Would running on street tires help save the center diff and axles for awhile when do start running the FP3065?

Hmm looks like no drag radials from mt, m and h or bfg will fit 16 inch stock rims. Seems these rims are all 6 inch and these drag radials are all too wide for that rim size??
What are guys doing?Didn't want to go 17s trying to save weight. Did any dsms come with 15 inch rims? And if so what tires in drag radial will fit on them properly.

I don't think want to run slicks on the car. Might have to stick with some street tires. What are the best for price and stickiness in a pure street tire that will fit on the stock 16 inch rims.

This year I ran the Hoosier 225/50R16's on my Auto. They aren't a bad tire at all. There's not much for wet traction as they are designed just like the QTP's they even use the same compound. I went with these because I still drive the car on the street and wanted some sidewall support. But the issue is the tires are only 24.6" tall. A little short for the auto. I'm going to Hoosier QTP's that are 26" tall for next season.

They did there job as I went mid tens on them.

I also reccommend a welded diff. I have one in the car and yes you definatly know it's there but you learn to live with it. The car does NOT turn on a dime and is really noticeable when trying to make a U-turn or turning into a driveway. But other then that it's not a big deal

He's talking about the Hoosier Drag Radials, I've also ran these when I was fwd. If you need to run a 16" rim your tire choices are very limited (there are several threads on here on that very subject). If you want real slicks (doesn't sound like you currently), you need to go 15" rim or smaller.

For 16" your looking at the Hoosier Drag Radials (most "aggressive" drag radial, not for rain, softest sidewalls), their more like 24.8-24.9 tall or the Hoosier QTPS. They are made with the same compound but are bias ply construction & 26" tall, as mentioned (normally you want 400 awhp+ to run this tall of a tire). MT also makes a DR in a 16" size but is 245 or 255 wide.

For 17's, your looking at BFG DR's. They'll have a stiffer sidewall, more tread, are better in the rain, more tread life etc, etc but will give up some traction vs the Hooisers.

I have a welded diff it's fine on the street, and tires I use a mt et street 235/60/15 there 26" tall and I mounted them on a 15x6.5" rim +38 and no rubbing issues I'm using ksports.
