I just got done doing a 6 bolt swap and was doing some test drives and got home and noticed the timing belt was walking off the cam gears. I ran some searches and people were mentioning the bolts on the pulleys. I took the motor mount off and the pulleys off the water pump and I start checking torque on the tensioner pulley. It was nice and tight. I moved onto the idler and the bolt was missing completely.
The belt looked like it was a little sticky like it was rubbing somewhere. I noticed the belt was off the 2 pulleys about a 1/4 of an inch. I don't remember which pulley I used. If it were the one off my 7 bolt or my 1990 6 bolt. Is there a way to tell? I believe the bolt lengths are different. Would it matter if I find some random bolt leftover from the swap and use it with some locktite? Is there only a lock washer on the bolt or is there a big flat washer? Thanks
