I must be doing something wrong. I've loosened, then tightened the special tool on the tensioner pulley, still cannot get my pin to go in. I've even used picks to probe around the push rod and can't feel a hole. How far down on the push rod is the hole. Right now I have the arm pushed up against the casing. I can get the pin in the first hole, just can't find the second.

Engine is still in the car and as you guys know, space is limited.
 
Many thanks. I finally lossened the rod up enough to bring the hole on the shaft up to where I could see it. For helpful hints, only turn the rod about 1/4 turn at a time. I was turning it about 1 turn each time and kept shooting past the hole.
