Being 17, I may not know everything when working on cars but getting a broke ass DSM when you're 15 gives you a "will to learn"...I had a few questions that none of the local DSM guys could answer, and neither did the search function or Vfaq;
1. Can the timing belt still be too tight, with the pin holes on the tensioner pulley at 11 & 2 o'clock? Totally not trying to kill the oil pump on a BRAND new fully built bottom end...
2. Does the torque on the tensioner pulley bolt matter?

I've gone through the FSM (Factory Service Manual) as well as a 1g Chiltons without much luck, I'll post a pic for whatever input I can get

It could be possibly overtightened. After you rotated it at least 6 times were you able to reinsert the grenade pin in the auto tensioner? As for the tensioner bolts, i didnt use a trq wrench but didnt go crazy on tightening it. I used threadlock on everything down there.
 
Hmmmm, I have tried that, I just made sure all the timing marks lined up, but I will definitely try that tomorrow after school, you're talking about putting a pin in the auto tensioner body right? I'm assuming so...
 
If you followed the procedures in the FSM and applied the correct amount of torque to the pulley, it should be properly tensioned. If the grenade pin slides in and out easily it's ok. Did you use a new belt?

The torque for the center bolt is 31-40 ft*lbs. Take note that when you tighten it, the friction from when the bolt contacts the pulley will also provide a rotating torque. There's a torque table in the FSM for future reference. I found this numeric value on page 9-19.
