hey i'm new to the forum and i have a really weird timing belt problem. its a 4g63 (2g) and i replaced the timing belt cz its at 124xxx. the first time i did it, it was idling rough but i drove it for 300 miles and then took it to a mechanic he said the markings are off and he readjusted it, after a 100 miles when i went to start it, the belt skipped and it would die down the moment it starts. and the engine sounded really weird. so towed to the mechanic and he put in a new tensioner and another new 'gates' timing belt. after 30 miles it happened again when i tried to start the engine and i really got no idea whats causing it. any help would be greatly appreciated... its cost me over 1000 and i really wanna get it done. another thing it had an oem belt before i put in the new belt which was an aftermarket one.

Either A your mechanic is a jackhole. B the tension pulley or idler pulley are completely shot. Im not sure if over tension would cause this or not, when my crank sensor broke an the engine started to walk i jumped a few teeth.
