Timing belt problems

I decided to change out my timing belt, but when i looked at the crankshaft and oil pump pulley's i realized that they are both off by 1 tooth when i line up the camshaft pulleys. someone has obviously changed out the timing belt before as there was cover bolts missing and etc. So do you think that i should leave it the way it is or turn the pulleys back to the marks like they are supposed to be? Did they maybe retard or advance the timing for performance?

You should deff line all the marks back up. Having the marks off in any direction will only kill your performance, not make it better.
