Last week my Timing Belt broke, so me and my Dad replaced it along with the rest of the belts. Once eveything was on, i tried starting the car, but all I does is turn over. We checked a spark plug & it had a really weak spark. The engine jsut doesn't seem to be turn with a lot of power. I have a 1.8 and accoring to a lot of people (plus my Chilton's manual) the 1.8 motor is non-interference so I do not think my cylinder head is messed up. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong. Like I said my T-Belt broke, so I replaced that and all the other belts, and now my ar will not start. Please help...my only ideas are,

1. Distributor went bad?
2. Maybe the battery went bad...except all accesories still turn on.
3. Spark plugs?
4. I have a 1.8 but could my valve still have f-ed up?

dont mean to jack your post but im having the same problem, except every 2weeks my car loses timeing and is very hard too start and some times wont start.:laser:

Does anyone have an online manual for the timing marks on a 1.8? All I can find is 2.0 and its set up differently...If I take my upper timing cover off, how do i crank the motor so the marks up top are aligned? Once I get the top aligned, what should be aligned on the bottom? I have the little "T" on my lower T-belt cover, what has to be aligned with that? Do I have to remove anything or should I just take off the the top cover? Also if I do have to remove everything because my belt is not aligned right, is there anyway to test it once its on again? Like say, can I start the car really quick before I put the other belts back on? I just dont feel like putting everything back on for nothin...

Ok i rechecked my t-belt, everything is perfectly lined up, anyone have any more ideas

Yeah I did but I put everything back the way it came out, is there anything I need to look for? I'm pretty suire the distributo is fine I didnt mess with it at all....

well if u actually did took distributor out from the head...

u have to make sure markings on the distributor and in the head are correct.

if it's even one tooth wrong it can be it wont start.

Where are the marks on the distributor? All I took out was the cap, then I looked at the rotor. Everything just screwed back together...where are the marks?

So if the ditsributor is fine, the timing marks are all perfect...then does anyone have a clue why it wont start?

Update on Car

Okay so I completely changed the Timing Belt AGAIN, and once again the car will not start. The spark is VERY weak when we looked at it, does anyone have any idea why?
