I would recommend reading up a little on timing a 4g63. I would recommend picking up a haynes or chilton manual to make sure exactly what your doing. You can make the tool by a simple trip to ace hardware.

Nobody mentioned if he put both dowel pins on the cams at "12:00" position.

Thus, he could be using an outer cam timing mark from one cam along with an inner timing mark of the other.

A tool made by a length of 8mm rod cut to a foot in length and get two 13mm nuts to place on the end and you take the nuts and tighten them against each other so you can put a 13mm socket on the end for the wrench.

This helps with the autoadjuster alignment and settings mentioned in the above manuals and site.

When you place the belt over the cams (with both dowels at the above mentioned position), you use two 17mm wrenches to roll the cams to align the two marks together and then lay the belt over the sprockets. Then clamp down the belt over the sprockets using a bulldog clip, even clothes pins, or similar works good.
This setup keeps the cams in time while you lace up the lower half of the motor.

ALL MARKS HAVE TO ALIGN UP PERFECTLY ! None of this, " it looks okey", or, "it'll have to do..." BS!
