I know it's been stated over, and over and over again. I've searched through google and can't find anything.. I'm doing the timing and have ordered the OEM replacements.. they got here and they didn't give me the idler pully and balance shaft tensioner.. this is my daily driver, so i do need it for work, and school. Will using aftermarket tensioner and pully be a not so smart idea?.. If not, is there a way to see if the OEM parts are still in good shape, and can be reused? I can't really afford to wait another week for them to send me parts, but if it's at the cost of my engine then I will. Thanks guys, Ryan.:hellyeah:

Damn, probably wouldn't be smart to reuse the tensioner.. Was more worried about the idler than anything. Thanks or the input man, unless I have some others with personal experience ill wait it out for OEM.. Better to hitch a ride for a few days than for a few months haha

Such as "gates idler pully?" Also, if the tensioner looks to be in good condition, do you think it will go another 60000 miles? It's an OEM as well, I'm doing my timing about 2k miles early.

The real ? Is, is it worth possibly distroying your engine? I'm sure the gates pulleys are good quality, and will do the job just fine. I personally wouldn't risk it and would wait for the correct oem part, but that's just me.

I understand.. Just didn't know how critical these two peices are if they do fail. As I said, if its my engine on the line then ill wait and find a ride for the next couple of days.

Mitsu doesnt make those parts. There are several good ones out there I would trust. Gates. Etc. You may notice the bearing marked ntn or nsk etc. Ive used gates for years but I use oem hydraulics

I apologize, but Mitsubishi doesn't make a BS tensioner or Idlerpully?...

He's saying that Mitsu doesn't actually make the parts in house, they have a supplier for them. But I would still try to find or get what is considered oem. If the balance shaft belt slips off or breaks it most likely will take out your timing belt, and I'm sure you know what will happen then.
