Hey all.....new here and I apologize in advance. I am a big Jeep/4x4 guy and dont know squat about cars, let alone front wheel drive cars. I just picked up a 93 Eclipse GS DOHC that has a broken timing belt. I was told it is an interference motor and I have a 50/50 shot as to whether or not the valves are bent. I am looking for a couple things....
1. On line manual I can reference as I tear it apart.
2. Advice on where to start. I was told pull the valve covers and turn the cam to see if there is a space between the cam lobes and the valve itself. That makes sense to me, but I dont really understand how or what to do to check that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I really just need it to run again so I am not gonna rebuild anything more than i have to. Might run to Pick n pull this weekend and look for a head to smack on it if that is the case. A couple of mechanic friends of mine said I still have a 50/50 shot as to whether or not the valves are bent? You disagree? How can I tell FOR SURE? Is there a technique or tool I can use to measure it?
