Time for new summer tires

I've had both the Kumho Ecsta MX's and the Falken Azenis RT-615's; let me tell, they are like night and day. The MX's are horrible if it's wet and still didn't grip as good as the RT-615's in the dry. I highly recommend the Falken's; they are great for Auto-X, and they're inexpensive.:thumb:

So going off the suggestion of a Discount Tire rep I went with a set of Yokohama S.drive tires. If I don't like them I can send them back within 30 days and get something else so we'll see how it goes. Tire Rack rates them very closely with the SPT but says they are a little more comfortable on the highway.

*sigh* I wish I could just go out and drive a few different types and see how they felt. Sucks buying something so expensive without getting to test it first.

EDIT: OK I lied. I called them back and changed my order to another set of SPTs. I figured with the minimal difference and two SPTs that are still at 2/3 tread, I'd rather have the spair set for emergencies.

Very true. The MX's don't do well at all on wet roads. But my FWD does like them for straight line acceleration (on dry roads at least :p).

Your the first person that I know of who has personally compared the two (always wondered how they stacked up to eachother). That's good to know. The RT-615's will be my next set of tires.:thumb:
