Lately I have been hearing a ticking sound coming from what it sounds like underneath my car on the driver's side. It's not the lifters, its a different type of ticking sound. It wont make the noise at idle, or if im stopped and revving it. It will only happen if im accelerating. Sounds like it gets louder/happens more when im under boost. I have no idea where to start looking since it could be so many things but i know many other people have had similar problems. I know i have an exhaust leak in my exhaust piping because the previous owner made a shitty weld and so it has a small leak, but i didnt think it could be that since i have had the car for a few weeks now and it hasnt made a noise.

It might be relevant to include some past things i have done since it could be that.
Most recent thing i did was replace the oil line tube for the oil pressure gauge. It got a tiny hole in it while i was driving and i lost a lot of oil. Replaced it and put plenty of oil back in.

Before that went i had replaced the crank pulley and timing belt since CHUNKS were missing out of the pulley where the bolts went to hold it on.

And before I noticed that, i ported my oil relief valve(which made me notice the crank pulley disaster)

So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated in advance! Thanks

did you happen to inspect the oil pump while you had the front cover off?
maby when it ran dry of oil it did a little damage and usually the oil pump is the first to get hit with damage and then the rest usually follows shortly after, if you know what i mean.

i hope its not true for your sake but there is a chance..

Anytime you get a ticking sound under throttle I think exhaust leak. Check to make sure your exhaust leak/crappy weld has not opened up a little more causing it to be more noticable.

i did not check it out but it does make sense and a good point. hopefully that isnt it, but thanks for the input

true that, thanks man. It could also be my exhaust manifold bolts being too loose as well right?

Yes yungjon23 you are right, it could be the exhaust manifold gasket leaking at the cylinder head. That is what I was going to say at first, but the bad weld in the pipe thing kind of steered me that way. Good luck:thumb:

Forgot to update, so the crack I was talking about was definitely it. The other day I opened my hood to find my wastegate dangling by a single weld from the manifold! So now its parked until I get my new setup. I found a ported evo3 manifold with a external wg flange and he also had a 38mm tial wastegate so I figured ill replace the eBay wastegate as well.
