Ok so i was driving down the highway today about 65 since it was raining. Evrything was ok. When i got home turn off the cd that i had playing and i hear this funny ticking noise.

Turn the car off right away.

Check oil level ---OK
Check engine coolent ---OK
Check all sparkplugs -- OK

Start up the car again!

So i noticed the noice is cumming up by the belts, my AC belt or alternator or somthing els. The car runs fine but just this wierd ticking noice.

Here are the videos PLZ HELP

Its your crank pulley. The inner and outer piece seperated. Get that taken care of its not hard to do, because if your belts go you lose your alt., power steering, and your water pump. And its probably eating threw your lower timing cover.

Double check i'm pretty confident its your crank pulley.

Yeah I agree with what was said above, you need to check your crank pulley. If the rubber material is starting to break down, it will take out all your other belts, and potentially can even make your timing belt slip (eek).

Definately something related to one of the belts. I would check out the crank pully. To determine where the noise is coming from though, if it isn't obvious to see, a nice homemaid tool is a stethoscope. Just use a any piece of long wood or metal and hold it up to part of the engine while its running, and hold the other end to your ear. Don't get it caught in your belts tho. :thumb:

It could be the pulleys but it sounds to me like a rod or somthing my car sounded like that when it hun a rod and CWed

Updates: looks like 2 of my belts rubbig against the timing belt cover. :thumbdown
hope nothing major happens still need to drive 30 miles to get home from work if somthing happens i will be screwed :thumbdown

After 24 Hours and about $170 back running fine. :thumb:

The problem was in a pully withch got seperated and here is what i end up damiging at the end ( drove home and to the shop to fix it total of 38miles)

Thanks for all the help guys.

It could have been much worse, I talked to a guy recently whos timing belt skipped a couple of teeth because his pulley fell apart. Some of the belts managed to get entangled with what was left of the crank pulley and caused the timing belt to jump. Not a good thing.

Well the guy that change it for me "Adam" told me that the worts that can happen is ur pully can brake the timing belt and bent some valves and tha could be a problem. The least damage it can do is throw the belts off. I drove about 55miles total when the pully started braking. The guy told me i was lucky not damiging my timing belt :thumb:

Don't try to do this! I had no choice so u know how it is?

Yeah I had the same thing happen. Cept I couldn't figure out what was causing the noise. Out of need I had to drive my car to work and back and after about 200 miles after the noise started I broke my 1-2 shift fork in my tranny which caused me to pull the motor and tranny. Low and behold my crank pulley was toasted. It didn't even totally destroy my T belt cover. Just grooved it some.

Do you have to take the pully and belt off to see if the pully is jacked?

It would be better to actually remove the plastic dirt cover, remove the belts, and then remove the pulley to inspect it closely, but you can just shine a flashlight on it (while under the car with the dirt cover removed) and see if its damaged. I will be replacing mine soon probably, the rubber is starting to crack...argh. Anyone know where you can find these things new for really cheap? =)

Thanks for the super fast response! This may be the problem with my car and save me a rebuild for now!!! :talon:

wow man im jealous fo that idle and the quietness of your motor, besides the pulley part.
