ok so i have a brand new pte 6262 with a brand new 44mm tial wastegate. My car will not boost past 7-10 psi and the wastegate is stuck open. I can feel air coming out of the dumptube when the car is idling. I have a 1.1 bar spring. I disconnected the wastegate from my MBC and still won't boost past 10 psi. Also i just took the wastegate off and i cannot push it in at all with my hands. is this normal?? What would cause a wastegate to be stuck open like this??? Also is there any way to test it to see if the wastegate is functioning properly?? I really don't know much about the mechanics of wastegates so any input would help.. thanks

its just a simple valve much like the valves on your head except this on is pushed open by pressure instead of your cams... if its stuck open or the valve isnt seating all the way send it back.
post some pictures also of the valve side that show it not closing all the way

ok will do.. and do u know if you should be able to push in the valve with your hands or no?? also what would be causing it to stay open a bad valve, bad springs, or bad diaphragm?

Having a vacuum hose on the wrong port will pull it open. Is the sealing ring in it?

The only thing i know that will stop it from closing is a bent valve and i dont think tial use a sealing ring, at least my 38mm doesnt. And you can push it with your hands but depending on what spring it can be very hard..

Yeah, you definitely need that valve seat. I agree that it sounds like yours is missing.

Actually, if you connect the vacuum line to the wrong port, it will hold it closed, not open.

A vacuum line to the top port will pull it open under vacuum, and hold it shut under boost. I used to run a check valve in the line to keep only boost going to it on a 16g setup iIused to run.

I think that if u connect the vacuum line to the top instead of the side it will keep the wastegate closed.. but either way mine is connected to the side and the top is vented

Right. Under boost, it would cause an over-boost situation - exactly the opposite of what the OP is experiencing.

I've seen this to happen once with my eyes.If the WG feels like it is open at idle, most likely you are missing the valve seat for some reason, I think. Look here:http://www.tialmedia.com/documents/w3_tial_wg_assem.pdf

The car builds boost, but misssing the valve seat acts like a huge boost leak. I suggest do not boost the car like this, or you may toast your new6262..
And yeah the springs are very hard to push with your fingers.
