thrust washers

I am having a problem with my buddies build and have a question relating to thrust washers. How do i check to make sure i need thrust washers? The block came off a 98 gst. I purchased ACL Bearings for the year of the car but cant figure out where these washers fit. There is not a vin number on block so i am not sure that its actually a 98. As soon as i can get a picture up i will show. Is there any identifying marks on the side of main no. 3 that should be seeing? It actually looks like it should be a 2 piece thrust bearing but i am not sure._

If it's truly a 98 then it'll have the split thrust washers. There's a vin# stamped on the back of the block where the trans mounts. To the left of the freeze plug. Then use this to decode it.

I actually went and checked another friends block and there is a big difference on Main #3. This what I have found...

The 98 block main bearing is machined more to accommodate the thicker thrust washer.

The second pic is a one piece main

Yes, That is what I figured.. Dam I bought the wrong bearings... .
