Im doing a rebuild on my eclipse..
i just got everything back from the machine shop..
i got 2g pistons 2g rods im using..

now do i need to order bearings like this description?

1997 and newer 4G63T 4G64 G4JS
Aftermarket main bearings set from ACL Engine Bearings
(for all 1997 and newer engines, cranks using thrust washers)

i don't think im using thrust washers? am i?

The main bearing set has a 3 piece "thrust washer" in 97+ engines. In earlier engines its a one piece design.

Are these the ones i need for my 1998 Mitsubishi ECLIPSE Spyder GST??

i ordered the ones without the flanged thrust bearing surfaces...

i got 10 of the same ones.. so i take it those are the wrong ones correct? the right ones are the ones i just posted above.. correct?

BECAUSE. i never once took out thrust washers that were separate from the main bearings....

CONFIRM ME ON THIS! PLEASE

Dude, chill out, When i took my 7 bolt apart (98 GS-T) All my bearings looked about the same size, except the middle bearing (thrust) had those washers on the sides of it like you posted the picture of in your other thread.

I built a 6bolt and it used the one piece design. To rebuild your engine you need a 3 piece thrust bearing which consist of the bearing itself and the 2 washers that sit on the sides of it

Here is a picture with your bearings and thrust washers for your motor:

If you look at the picture "03048" are the thrust washers you posted the picture of in your other thread, that is what you need

Your bearings should all look somewhat the same, because your thrust bearing is not 1 piece, its 3 pieces (1 being the bearing, the other 2 being those 'half moon' washers)

EDIT: also if you are not going to use a haynes/chilton manual atleast goto the auto parts store and open one and look at it. It has step by step how to replace the bearings and you will see exactly what your bearings are supposed to look like. Best $20.00 you can spend!

BECAUSE. i never once took out thrust washers that were separate from the main bearings....

so you tore down your own motor and do not know what thrust bearing you have? :nono: where are the old bearings to confirm? 92.5-97.5 use a one piece thrust, 97.5+ use the 3 piece, When it is the 3 piece you must order the thrust washers seperately...atleast i had to when I ordered from extreme!

1. i have the manual.
2. THOSE DO NOT FIT. PERIOD.
3.On the door it says my engine was built on JUNE 07..
4. Those washers never came out of my car when i pulled the motor.

but my car is registered as a 98. idn why

I can promise you that the bearing and the 2 thrust washers do not fit in my engine.

Anyone?

bump..

That doesn't look like any thrust bearing i've ever seen. especially on any of our cars . there all one piece on the six bolt motors. one piece in the block and one piece in the main cap. hope this helps

I have a 98 elipse gst.
On the door it says it was built in June of 1997

I ordered the Main Bearings and Thrust Washers

input please

1998 was the year that they changed from the bearing in the bottom picture to the ones in the top with the separate thrust bearings. Being built in 6/97 makes it hard to determine which block you have. I would say you have a 1997 block. There is an engine number that determines which block you have. Any number below UC 1709 will have the one piece #3 bearing, while above will have the six piece.

There is a TSB # 97-11-018 that covers it.
