Throttle Bodies

Hey i was wondering if there is a difference from a NT throttle body and a Turbo throttle body. i want to have mine bored and polished and everything but i dont want the down time on my car as it is my daily driver. and my tow guy just got a 92 eclipse with a 4g63 N/T and auto and i can have all the parts i can take off it for $50. the only problem with the eclipse is there is a hole in the top of the piston i believe its #4. the one all the way on the passenger side. anyways hopeing you guys can tell me if they r the same. thanx

no they are not the same, the turboed uses a flange to mount the UICP. Where as the NTs accept a coupler. There are many people running the NT throttle bodies by constructing a new UICP and a 90* silicon coupler. But in your appilcation it would not really work since you are sending off the stock TB to be "worked" then reinstalling it. I do not think you would want to go thru that much trouble just for a few days. Search around, you can find TBs for pretty cheap. I just bought my 1G TB for $20.

1990 TB - it only has two vacuum ports on the top of the TB. Also has a green coil instead of the black. These are surface mount TB's (you must use an elbow with flange) not the one with a lip on it. These are not compatible with a 2g dsm, but it has been known to be used on a 1g. Personally I don't think it's worth the hassle. 60mm bore.

1991-1994 nonturbo TB - same characteristics as a 1991-1994 turbo TB but with a lip. you will need a 45* or 90* silicon elbow to make it work. 60mm bore.

1991-1994 TB - marked with 4 vacuum ports, 3 straight and 1 angled (marked A1). These are also 60mm bore and are the common upgrades on a 2g dsm. it is a straight plug and play (you have to reroute your vacuum lines) onto a 2g DSM. however, you may want to switch your TPS (4 prong) and your ISC into the new TB while you have it out, as well as change the shaft seals. If you want, you can also swap (or eliminate) the FIAV.

1995-1999 TB: marked with 3 straight vacuum ports and black coils. These are stock and have a 52mm bore. Refer to 1991-1994 TB to upgrade.
