This too shall (make a) pass! (92 TSi Build)

The daily struggles of owning a DSM. Attempting a clean and quick street car for occasional track use after a series of bad luck cases.

Let's go back to the beginning of this long rough road.

My First Car was a 99 spyder. After a lady pulled out infront of it, I used the insurance money to buy me this:

1992 Eagle Talon TSI AWD

This was the day I bought it, 92k miles, unmolested and had 500 bucks extra from the 99.

I payed a dealership to replace the clutch (First standard, learning and it shattered up on me) and told them to check the timing belt. It was pretty trashed and they ended up not fixing it correctly and it kept jumping teeth. They payed to replace my head and finally did the job right.

I had tons of bad luck with this car, too many people hands in it and sketchy people. One guy ended up replace a motor that siezed up with a non turbo motor that ended blowing up and stuff like that.

I've had plenty of discouraging moments. But still hopeful to get this thing running.

Everything that currently has been done to it has been me, only the first *cough" four motors *cough* were shops. And A few I had done with misc failures but learning experiences. and this last one due to crappy machine work.

The goal now is to use everything BRAND NEW. No worries of debris in the balls of the crank due to a micro polish or rods still being out of round or machine incorrectly.

It should go!

My currently Mod list is accurate:

My speed density sensors need to be hooked up.

I am Ordering parts and need to pull and get rid of the old block and get ready to get this one in.

This is the car as it sits currently:

I will post a few more pics of the build up to this point next, and just continue to keep it up to date from there.

Wow you've been through 4 motors from shops on that thing already? What shops were they, and which machine shop did you go to that did bad work?

Don't want to be bashing places, Mack Massey (no more since dealership is under new ownership) was the one that messed up the timing belt and eventually destroyed my head, another shop double gasketed the first oil change on the new motor and destroyed the bearing (shop no longer in buisness) Non turbo block another shop, no longer in business, and one machine shop is debatable so I'm not mention. the machine shop that was pure crap was at Car Quest. Took 3 months didn't do the work, had to take it back and took another 3 months I tried to get the head ported and he said he throw it in free, I said "Are you sure? I don't mind paying, I want to make sure its done" He said he got it, Went to pick it up and it wasn't done. The Rod that I needed fixed wasnt fixed the first time when I told him it was the whole reason I was there, spun the bearing and its out of round. 2nd time it was done, Looked correct but it was in cly 3 and 500 miles late cly 3 rod went through the front of my block and out the oil pan. .[DOUBLEPOST=1415424353][/DOUBLEPOST]In no particular order here are some of the works in progress:
