My car project this summer was to paint the car, somehow.
It may be a DSM crime, but when it's done, it probably won't be the worst you've ever seen....I was really paranoid about getting ricey -- 'cause that's tacky, so I hope it's more in the "whoa, that's both crazy cool and fun", and not...ugh, that person cares FAR to much about their car, yeah? I hope I hit the nail on the head.
After having probably too much of that devil's grass, I thought it'd be cool if she looked like a piece of the road.
So... I thought the best way to do that was to paint it with Rustoleum Truck Bed liner!
To make it MORE like the road: white side lines trim piece things, and a dashed and solid yellow line racing stripe thing over the hood on the driver's side, up over the top and down the back....
{An engineer friend tells me the road lines are a total width of 1'-0'', each line is 4"w with a 4" space between...just in case you were wondering ; ) }
I don't have the yellow road stripe painted yet, and I haven't put the spoiler on yet either, cause I've been both busy and lazy!

Lots of sanding...ugh!
What was left of the clear coat really didn't want to come off!
And some Bondo-ing. Had to essentially reconstruct the lower wheel well with fiberglass, big ugly rust hole! This photo is pre-finished sanding / shaping
She's mostly done! Should probably buff the headlights soon.
I might paint these again and re-do the splatters, it doesn't jive in my mind, but I may be overly anal,
it says... put my spoiler on, ya' ho! ...Have one with the 3rd brake light in it, so it won't be the same spoiler as in the before pic.
Snagged some lettering from the junkyard since the other letters didn't survive the peeling off..., and relocated it to the center tail light, I kinda like it, looks less naked, and is kinda, in the spirit of 2g+.
