i had a similar problem and my car wouldnt rev very high, very hard to get it to start, i had faulty wiring on my Coil on plug setup. I had to get an obdII reader to determine my problem

multiple cylinder misfire, i just rewired all the wires underneath my coilpacks, and it fixed the problem. I would go to rev it up in neutral and it wouldnt rev past 4500 rpms. It was like hitting the rev limiter. then a day later i would try to start it and it would barely start then it would idle really rough and then die.
