Okay so randomly today my car started making this weird noise...not sure if it is rod knock but who knows... Check out the videos and let me know what you think. I hope it is nothing serious, i am going to bring it into work tomorrow and throw it up on the lift and see if i can pinpoint it.

Thats the balance shafts knocking... take the engine out and take them out, get the balance shaft eliminator kit, Toga oil pump, and Fluidampr Internally Balanced Street Series Harmonic Balancers and you will be good to go!!!

holy rod knockOMG

what does the CEL say?

last time i checked, the CEL was for the Boost solenoid.

As far as determining if it is rod knock, my friend told me to cut out each cylinder and see if it goes away. If it doesnt go away, it would be the balance shaft. If it is the balance shaft, what would it consist of? and about how much would that run me? If not...i guess its a good time to rebuild it.

thats exactly what happened to my frist motor i had a bunch of metal when i droped the oil pan was not fun

i recently did my oil pan gasket, and found a bunch of old turbo seals and misc parts in the pan...guess you gotta pay to play eh?

Okay, well i found out that Cylinder #3 is the culprit. I was going to just drop the oil pan, pull off the cap, pusht he rod up and then change out the bearings. Should i go ahead and do them all? Where can i get lower end bearings from?

Dropped the oil pan last night and this is what i found.

This is cylinder 2 and 3 next to eachother. Cyl 2 is on the left, cyl 3 is on the right. The bearing width for cylinder 2 looks MUCH thinner than cylinder 3.

And a picture of cylinder 2 bearing in the cap.
