There is a chirping sound coming from somewhere in my rotating assembly. I was under the impression it was the harmonic damper but as you can see from the video I have replaced my stocker with a Fluidampr. So before I go disconnecting pulleys can anyone help me narrow this down?

Get out a can of WD-40 and start spraying the pullies one by one till you find which ones making the noise. Much easier that diconnecting them one by one.

Have you checked belt tension on both the a/c, and p/s belts. If tension is good I would look into the idler pulley for the a/c. Also dried out belts can squeal like a banshee. Try holding a small candle against the belts while they turn (on the inside) and see if the noise goes away. If it does replace your belts. Good luck on it.

For some reason the entire clip is not in the first post. Here is the WHOLE clip.

The alt belt is brand new and tension on the belts is good. The AC idler pulley looks fine and I doubt its the culprit. I'm leaning more towards the power steering pump actually. Just haven't had time to disconnect it and then run the engine.

Do bad bearings chirp or grind? Come to think about it, the hose burst and all the power steering fluid drained out while driving once. I refilled it and it was fine, but it might be bad now.

That timing cover looks awfully close to the belt/gear on the left. looks like there is a groove from it already..... you might want to check that out.:dsm:

yes the pump canmake that sound if the bearings are gone in it. It also sounds like it could be trying to lock up so the belt is making the chirp.

please put thetiming belt cover back on... say good bye to your head if a tiny pebble hits it.

I don't drive around with the upper timing cover off. That and the tire will go back on before I hit the road. ROFL

Yeah, I don't know why its so close. There is a groove into it from the ac idler pulley. I have no clue how it got so close.

I was talking about your timing gear/belt on the head on the lower timing cover by the motor mount

Did you do a BSE? if not check that sprocket Mine made that noise before so we just ended up doing a BSE. Did you ever remove oil pan bolts? Saying that be cause there are 2 small bolts that need to go near the timing area if you put the big ones in they eat the timing belt.
Spray it with some WD40 like the guy said above to trouble shoot it. Could be a sign of a pulley going out. inspect the front case for any aluminum shavings ect.

I did the BSE when I rebuilt the engine 3 years ago. I also made sure to put those two shorter bolts in the correct holes in the oil pan to avoid eating up the timing belt.
Thanks.

Just want to mention that when I installed the Fluidampr (yesterday) I ran the engine with NONE of the accessories connected and it purred like a kitten. No problematic noises what so ever from the timing belt, cams, head or block areas. It was not until I connected the accesories did this chirping occur.

Im thinking pulley too... like PS pump.

Its raining like monsoon season here today so I will have to go back to troubleshooting when it dries up a bit. Wish I had started this in the garage. Oh well.

Pulley bearings start out as a chirp or squeal. The p/s pulley is attached directly to the pump shaft so if it's your culprit, the pump bearing is dead.
