A guy at my work is selling a 91 eclipse 2.0 non turbo w rebuilt motor he was going 2 make into a turbo but his wife is prego and she told him he has 2 sell his other baby.He tells me he put a thicker head gasket on it 2 lower compression for the turbo..can this b true?

with a thicker head gasket, you compress the air into a larger area. Compressing basically the same amount of air into a slightly bigger area means it's compressed less, thus lower compression.

Ok i already have a turbo but this is my eclipse non turbo twin!LOL Hes only selling it 4 500 bucks. His wife told him it has 2 go now or shes sellin it even cheeper.Basicly everythings new down 2 the crank..Just wanting 2 know bout the head gasket th befor i bought it

Just because he lowered the compression SLIGHTLY with a thicker head gasket doesnt mean your gonna be able to slap a turbo on it and run stcok boost the pistons rings will soon become not there.

That can be done but it is just a half assed waying of doing something. If the gasket he used ist designed for a FI application and is quite thick then I am going to say that you will blow it out. There are also alot of other things that come into play. The rings, pistons, injectors, and the like. They all have to be up to the task of handling the boost.

What im saying is i already have the turbo stuff for the swap..My car is turbo..but my motors gettin weak..Just wanted 2 know if i can use this fresh rebuilt motor in mine somehow..Ill never put it past fact boost anyway..Not really a racer..I like things 2 last..

the nonturbo 4g63s are a little different. They don't have the lines you need for the turbo. It'll be a pain in the butt.
